In these 1:1 swim lessons, participants will work with American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors and a group of specially trained volunteers. Freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke will be developed and butterfly will be introduced. Non-Member Registration for Winter Lessons Begin Wednesday, December 3!During their swim lessons, children will spend time on the following six levels:Level 1 (Introduction to Water Skills)Students will learn how to feel comfortable in the water and safely enjoy it.Level 2 (Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills)Prerequisite: Child can float on back and put head under water.Level 3 (Stroke Development)Prerequisite: Child can swim front stroke and on back stroke.Level 4 (Stroke Improvement)Prerequisite: Child can front and back crawl 25 yards.Level 5 (Stroke Refinement)Prerequisite: Child can freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke 25 yards. Also can scissor kick, whip kick, tread water, and dive.Level 6 (Swimming and Skill Proficiency)Prerequisite: Child can swim front and back crawl 50 yards, elementary backstroke 25 yards, butterfly 25 yards, sidestroke 10 yards, tread 3 minutes, and dive.
