Swimming is an important life skill. It is a low-impact exercise to help keep you fit and healthy. It is also FUN! Don’t let the fear of water keep you from enjoying swimming. Now is the perfect time of year to “jump in the water.” BeginnerIn this class you will learn the basic swimming skills to keep you safe in the water. Emphasis will be on exhaling air while face is in the water, floating unassisted on front and back, treading water, and learning the basics of front crawl, back crawl and breast stroke.  IntermediatePrerequisite: Able to swim 25 yards of front and back crawl. In this class you will review the skills from the Beginner Swim class and work on stroke mechanics for all four competitive strokes.NOTE: the class participant must be a member in good standing to register early and receive any discounts.

Shallow Cardio HIITThis high energy class will increase muscular endurance and improve cardio-respiratory endurance by utilizing the resistance of water. Shorter periods of high intensity intervals will be alternated with lower intensity intervals. In less time than a traditional steady state workout, you will burn more calories and continue to burn more calories long after the workout has ended.Shallow PowerThis is a high energy class which incorporates exercises and equipment to strengthen, tone and stretch the body in a low-impact environment, while improving cardiovascular fitness. The American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program focuses on building skills one step at a time. By giving them the opportunity to master one element before moving on to the next, our kids' swim classes make it easy to build confidence in the water. NOTE: the class participant must be a member in good standing to register early and receive any discounts. During their swim lessons, children will spend time on the following six levels:Level 1 (Introduction to Water Skills)Students will learn how to feel comfortable in the water and safely enjoy it.Level 2 (Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills)Prerequisite: Child can float on back and put head under water.Level 3 (Stroke Development)Prerequisite: Child can swim front stroke and on back stroke.Level 4 (Stroke Improvement)Prerequisite: Child can front and back crawl 25 yards.Level 5 (Stroke Refinement)Prerequisite: Child can freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke 25 yards. Shallow Cardio HIITThis high energy class will increase muscular endurance and improve cardio-respiratory endurance by utilizing the resistance of water. Shorter periods of high intensity intervals will be alternated with lower intensity intervals. In less time than a traditional steady state workout, you will burn more calories and continue to burn more calories long after the workout has ended.Shallow PowerThis is a high energy class which incorporates exercises and equipment to strengthen, tone and stretch the body in a low-impact environment, while improving cardiovascular fitness. Swimming is an important life skill. It is a low-impact exercise to help keep you fit and healthy. It is also FUN! Don’t let the fear of water keep you from enjoying swimming. Now is the perfect time of year to “jump in the water.” BeginnerIn this class you will learn the basic swimming skills to keep you safe in the water. Emphasis will be on exhaling air while face is in the water, floating unassisted on front and back, treading water, and learning the basics of front crawl, back crawl and breast stroke.  IntermediatePrerequisite: Able to swim 25 yards of front and back crawl. In this class you will review the skills from the Beginner Swim class and work on stroke mechanics for all four competitive strokes.NOTE: the class participant must be a member in good standing to register early and receive any discounts.
