During their swim lessons, children will spend time on the following six levels:Level 1 (Introduction to Water Skills)Students will learn how to feel comfortable in the water and safely enjoy it.Level 2 (Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills)Prerequisite: Child can float on back and put head under water.Level 3 (Stroke Development)Prerequisite: Child can swim front stroke and on back stroke.Level 4 (Stroke Improvement)Prerequisite: Child can front and back crawl 25 yards.Level 5 (Stroke Refinement)Prerequisite: Child can freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke 25 yards. Also can scissor kick, whip kick, tread water, and dive.Level 6 (Swimming and Skill Proficiency)Prerequisite: Child can swim front and back crawl 50 yards, elementary backstroke 25 yards, butterfly 25 yards, sidestroke 10 yards, tread 3 minutes, and dive.

Youth Swim Lessons - Youth 5/6 (Th) 6:00pm Spring The American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program focuses on building skills one step at a time. By giving them the opportunity to master one element before moving on to the next, our kids' swim classes make it easy to build confidence in the water.
